The practice clash with Newcastle Jets is football's first elite level club match in the city. The Jets and Sydney FC will hold W-League trials in Wagga every second year, alternating with A-League trials each season.
Green, who was part of Sydney FC's premiership-winning team this year, said it was important top class football is accessible to the Riverina.
This week it was announced a Greater Western Sydney-Richmond AFL trial and AFLW double header will be played in Wagga next year, while the NRL's Canberra Raiders will play a season-proper game at Equex Centre for the second straight season.
The 21-year-old, who joined teammates in visiting a number of Wagga schools on Friday, believes the city is capable of graduating from trial games to official fixtures.
"It will be a good test on Sunday to see what the crowd's like and we're definitely encouraging as many people as possible to get out there and support us," she said.
"It (regular season game) would also give the young fans a chance to see us more regularly.
"It's really crucial to touch base with these kids and that we're accessible. There's quite a few girls in the W-League who come from these regional areas and it's a chance for them to see top names in Australian football.
"We're really excited to be in Wagga and it's a great chance for young girls, and young boys, to see some professional football because it's not every day we come out to these regional areas."
Up-and-coming defender Jessika Nash, 15, has just returned from representing the Junior Matildas in the AFC under-16 championships in Thailand, where they narrowly missed qualification for the world cup after a 2-1 semi final loss to China.
She said Sydney FC wants to demonstrate to local youngsters they can achieve their football dreams from a regional centre.
"They have it a bit harder and don't have the same facilities as us, but if you love it and have enough passion you can go anywhere," she said.
"It's a bit daunting (giving kids pointers at schools) but it's good because I remember when I was a child and older players spoke about their experiences in front of me, I found it very inspiring and learnt a lot from it."
Sydney FC will field all three established Matildas stars in Caitlin Foord, Alanna Kennedy and Chloe Logarzo on Sunday, their final hit-out before their title defence begins.
The Jets will rely largely on local talent as they look to make a leap up the W-League ladder.
Tickets to Sunday's game, which kicks off at 3pm, can be purchased through Sydney FC and Football Wagga's websites as well as through Ticketebo.
