Justin Hunt is well on his way to breaking down these barriers though with the release of his final piece to the Freiyon Fables Trilogy, Hooked on Power.

Following the first two fantasy novels of the series, A Tail to Remember and The Rochester Runes, Hunt tells the story of a magical world where characters are not human and nothing is too imaginative.

"The first two looked at the heroes of the world Freiyon, but now I'm changing it up to focus on the villains," Hunt said.

"It's about a pirate crew who get trapped in Freiyon and try to find a way out, but as they do that their decisions change the course of time and they soon realise they have the power to make bad things happen so they build on that."

Dabbling in time travel too, the novel sees a character mentioned in the first of the trilogy reenter the story.

"This character is the first to go to Freiyon willingly to meet his heroes, only he has to be super careful because if he does one thing wrong, he too might change a lot of things he doesn't want to change," Hunt said.

"He's stuck with the pirates in the past, and he can't stop them without being sure he won't change Freiyon's history."

Hunt began writing stories at just seven years old.

"I used to be really into fantasy tales like Narnia, the Goosebump series, Paul Jennings, all sorts of different authors of fantasy genres," he said.

"I was really inspired by these people and I wanted to share my imagination, and writing seemed to be the best way to do that."

The first of the Freiyon Fables was put to paper when Hunt was 12, completing the first draft at 15. He's now 27, and the mammoth journey is finally at an end.

"I found out you could self publish on Amazon for free, so I published the first of the series after having it looked over from a man at Charles Sturt who had been very helpful with editing throughout this venture," he said.

"It was and still is a nerve-wracking thing to publish your own work, essentially you're doing it on your own and just don't know how the public will take it.

"I want it to be perfect, but you just never know."

Creative ideas are a constant flow inside Hunt's mind.

"I work on multiple stories at once, so it can get confusing, but ideas do just tend to come to me, I am always thinking and if I don't write it down, I can get bored very easily," he said.

"But other times, it comes from different experiences.

"One character for instance who has popped up in a few of my stories but really is cemented in this third final book is a fox, Chester, with a purple and black scarf around his neck.

"This idea came from a real experience though, it was quite bizarre. I was visiting some friends and family in England when I was young and I went to take the trash out one night, then I hear this noise coming from the neighbours' place.

"I look up and out pops this little fox from their rubbish bins, and no word of a lie, it had this purple and black scarf around its neck. It didn't run away like other foxes either, it just stared at me, like it was analysing me, for a good five minutes.

"Eventually it ran off, but the scarf stayed on around his neck. So that's how the idea of Chester was born."

For the official release of his book, Hunt will deliver an interactive experience unlike the trends of typical book launches.

"I want to take the readers not just through the story on pages but also in real life and so doing that through the book launch is the best way," he said.

"For this event, I will be having three challenges, one archery focused and two based around problem solving with leaders trying to lead the groups astray I suppose could say."

The book launch will be held Friday, November 15 with a 3:30pm at St Martin's College, Charles Sturt University.
