A capacity field of 232 golfers will hit the fairways at the Country Club on Saturday for the time-honoured event.
"We've got a capacity field on Saturday, which is great," Wagga Country Club manager John Turner said.
"Sunday's numbers are fantastic as well. It's the best Sunday field numbers we've had too."
After 232 on Saturday, 170 golfers will back up for the second round of the championships on Sunday.
The final two rounds will be played over Saturday and Sunday next weekend.
Carroll, the two-time defending champion, is considered the one to beat in what is an even field.
"Luke Chisholm has been doing a lot of practice and is one of the major contenders," Turner said.
"There's Bart of course. He's not long back from Canada and played well over there. And he's going for the three-peat too if he can do it.
"Then you've got the old stagers like Jarrod Meacham, who is always very consistent. It's going to be a great event."
Henry Brind will go into the opening weekend in good form after enjoying a brilliant round of 64 on Wednesday.
Turner said the course is in great condition considering the current climate.
"The greens are in great nick and considering the conditions, the course is holding up well to what Mother Nature has given us," he said.
