Wagga Councillor Yvonne Braid was leading the event, and said weather warnings were to blame for the delay.
"The weather bureau said it was going to be very windy today and we had a few people pull out because of that so we thought it would be best to reschedule for a weekend of better weather," she said.
"It would be a difficult job for the volunteers to be scrubbing walls in wild weather, so even though it has turned out okay today, we didn't want to risk it."
The postponed clean up is expected withing the next month.
Wagga City Council has been forced to spend more than $200,000 of ratepayers money in the past five financial years in a bid to keep its graffiti woes at a manageable level.
Cr Braid said the hard work could easily be undone.
"We want to get as much as we can get done, and what we can't do we will continue through the year so people understand that we aren't going to give up," she said.
