MEN'S mental health and well-being support in the Riverina is set to receive a financial boost thanks to an upcoming collaboration.
The Riverina Modified Car Meet, which holds events monthly to raise funds for various local charities, have chosen the Murrumbidgee Men's Group for October.
The proceeds of the event on Saturday at Bunnings' car park will go to the men's group, which started earlier this year.
The group connects men from different walks of life who suffer from mental illness with other like-minded men in a supportive and non-judgmental environment.
The group's co-founder Rhys Cummins said they have been "overwhelmed with the amount of community support shown" since its inception.
"We thank Sam Lowe [organiser] and the car meet for their efforts," Mr Cummins said.
"It's really great to see local community events getting behind and raising awareness of men's mental health in our region."
Mr Lowe said it was the first time the two parties have worked together for a good cause.
"Every charity is worthy but the Murrumbidgee Men's Group and men's mental health hit pretty close to home," Mr Lowe said.
"We know men don't talk enough about it."
Mr Lowe said he was hoping for about 200-300 cars from across the region on the night.
"That's roughly the amount during the last event. We raised funding for the Sarah Lloyd Scholarship, which was really good," he said.
Riverina charity Country Hope will also be putting on a barbecue to raise funds.
Trophies sponsored by various Riverina businesses will also be awarded to car owners.
Businesses will also offer raffles on the night.
It will be gold-coin entry to the car meet at Bunnings' car park. The event starts at 7pm this Saturday.
