The initiative comes as part of Respect Awareness - a group dedicated to creating an inclusive, safe environment for the Wagga community over the past 20 years.
Various coffee shops and sit-down style cafes, starting with the Coffee Club, will have small posters displayed on their tables which prompt discussions around respect and promote the upcoming Respect Awareness Day on November 20.
New to the committee is Kate Wall who designed the posters.
"Respect is such an important thing but it's one thing to support it and another to actually act on it," she said.
"We want these posters to prompt people to talk about the issues, which is why we chose cafes because you have that time in a busy schedule to wait for your order and actually have a meaningful conversation with another person."
With 500 posters to hand out to tables across the city's cafes, Ms Wall said it was time to act now.
"This group has been around for two decades now which just goes to show that Wagga really does want to take on board the message we're sending," she said.
The public are encouraged to wear anything purple or yellow in support of Respect Awareness Day on November 20.
