Josh Thompson and Alex Smeeth both won't line up to take on ACT Aces at Chisholm Oval on Sunday to start the tournament.
The Aces were the only team to beat the Sloggers in Wagga last season to qualify for the finals, however manager Shaun Perry is still confident the side shapes up well.
"T20 is a funny game and anything can happen," Perry said.
"It's a big test first up and it is unfortunate we've got them first up as if you get beat in the first game then you are up against it and virtually have to win your next two and hope they get beat.
"It's a challenge but we are looking forward to it."
Jeremy Rowe is also out through injury while Max Harper has withdrawn from the squad due to family commitments.
The team is light on for pace bowling options, but a call was made to leave St Michaels quick Dave Garness out to bolster their batting options.
"We don't think we need to have pace bowlers taking the place of batsmen," Perry said.
"We've got Cookey (Nathan Cooke) who is an all-rounder, Beck Frostick can bowl quick plus Aaron Maxwell and quite a few medium pacers and spinners.
"Overall it is a pretty well balanced side."
