Maiden always viewed his return to the Tigers coaching job as a two-year tenure and the club has now finalised the structure for their premiership defence.

Tigers announced Shaun Flanigan's return as assistant coach last month and he will be joined by Ron Hutchins Medallist Brendy Myers.

The 20-year-old enjoyed a brilliant return to Robertson Oval this year and will step up to share assistant coach duties alongside Flanigan next season.

Maiden is pleased to have everything in place for a second year in the job at Tigers.

"I suppose when we sat down and first spoke about (the job), this time last year or maybe earlier, it was always going to be longer than a one-year plan," Maiden said.

"I probably thought at that point in time it was going to be at least two so to have it done officially is good."

Maiden took Tigers from eighth position and just two wins to premiers in the space of 12 months.

As for what to aspire to next season, Maiden will take the same approach as this year with the initial goal being to be competitive and improve each week.

"You're never confident you're going to win the comp but we know we're going to have to improve because everyone else now will be trying to beat us, not that that doesn't happen anyway," he said.

"We certainly think we're going to have to improve to give ourselves a shot at being one of the better sides again.

"Obviously there's a lot of water to go under the bring between now and then and you need a lot to go right to put ourselves in position."

Myers enjoyed his return to Tigers and is looking forward to taking on some extra responsibility next year.

"It's exciting and I'm looking forward to it," Myers said.

"Coming back from Melbourne this year, it came to my attention that I would like to coach. I enjoyed helping out Pag this year, just trying to pass on my knowledge from what I experienced from (Melbourne)."

Myers is also taking a conservative approach to aspirations for next year.

"If we can keep most of the boys on board for next year then we're a fair chance of hopefully playing finals and we'll see how we go from there," he said.

Myers spent a season with Northern Blues in the VFL before returning to Wagga Tigers this year.

Flanigan returns to the club after three seasons at Wodonga Bulldogs in the Ovens and Murray competition.

Tigers' announcement leaves grand finalists Griffith as the only Riverina League club still to finalise their coaching set-up for next season.
