Wagga's central business district will come to a standstill when Charles Sturt University's annual Town and Gown Academic Procession marches down the city's main street.

The event has been held by the university in Wagga since 2005 as a precursor celebration to mark upcoming graduations, which will take place in December.
Academics dress in official uniform and academic regalia before walking from Morgan Street to the Victory Memorial Gardens.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Andrew Vann said the procession celebrates the educational achievements of the university's staff, students and the community.
"Charles Sturt University is very grateful to be a key part of the Wagga community in terms of the skilled professionals we provide, the staff we employ and the ongoing focus we have on the economic development of the region" he said.
"The Town and Gown event is a time for staff and students to celebrate their achievements with the Wagga Wagga community.

The academic robing will take place at 11.30am at the Townhouse Motel at 70 Morgan Street.
The parade will begin from Morgan Street along Baylis Street from midday before a reception held at the Victory Memorial Gardens from 12.30pm.
