In the face of drought, Tarcutta Horse Sports Community secretary Jasmine Allen said those involved have worked hard to get the event off the ground.
"It's been a struggle because the usual sponsors are all from rural areas and they don't have the funds to support the event either and make it possible," she said.
"We're also struggling quite a lot with getting personnel and stock because it's just so dry - a lot of places have had to sell of their cattle because they don't have the feed for them, and our personnel can't afford to travel because they don't have the stock."
Ms Allen said it has taken a lot of effort and negotiating to work around this.
"We've really pulled together and are trying hard to negotiate ways around it, like those who have had to sell cattle have managed to get the buyers to loam us them for the event still and things like that," she said.
"We have rodeo stock coming out from The Rock too, they've been a huge help to us."
In other news:
The Rural Fire Service are also on board according to Ms Allen, who will be watering down the area for safety against the dusty conditions.
"We rely a lot on the community as a non-for-profit group, but the money just ins't in the community so we are extremely grateful for all the help we can get," she said.
"We've also been applying for a lot of grants to bring a multipurpose centre into the mix of the facilities on offer here."
But the most important aspect of keeping the event running was spectators, Ms Allen said.
"Everyone who comes through the gates helps us break even to be able to put the rodeo on and it makes it more rewarding for us to do so even though we don't really make a profit off it," she said.
The Tarcutta Rodeo will be held on Saturday, November 2 at the Tarcutta Recreation Grounds with gates opening at 8.30am.
