With celebrations running from today through to Sunday, October 20, club president Bob Smith said it was about remembering the hard work and dedication of club's members past and present.

"When the club first started in 1969, they were doing everything from building houses and helping the nursing home, to building chairs for the hospital and participating in events like Kurrajong barbecues and carols by candlelight," he said.

"Our most recent work has involved helping out Safe Sight and public health NSW, we just helped at Kooringal School for the kids with hearing difficulties, we bought a Google Home device for the classrooms."

After five decades of service, Mr Smith said it was inspiring that they had stayed afloat for so long.

"I think it's the comradeship and the fact that the members have fun and are passionate about their community that keeps it going," he said.

Despite their continuous support for the community, it isn't always an easy feat to keep it going.

"We have a couple of new people signing up here and there but we still do need new members," Mr Smith said.

"It's harder to get the younger members to join because they often have other things to do or other clubs they're involved with."

But with no plans of slowing down, the weekend convention held at the Wagga RSL Club will see Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack, State Member for Wagga Joe McGirr and Mayor Greg Conkey open the ceremony on Saturday.

Other guest speakers will talk to club members over the three days to motivate their continual hard work.
