Layla Bellany has spent the last year growing her locks out in order to make the big chop and raise money for cancer.
"I'll be cutting off about 10-11 inches off, so that will raise money as well as donating my hair to make wigs for people who have lost their hair through cancer," the 11-year-old said.
"I don't need all of my hair and some people don't have any so I thought it would be a good idea."
Miss Bellany has been involved in Relay For Life for the past few years alongside the Bidgee Dragon Boat Club's team, with a personal motivation driving her generosity.
"Both of my grandfathers died from cancer," she said.
"One had brain cancer, he died a few years ago but my other grandfather only passed away last month from Myelofibrosis."
With a goal of $1000, Miss Bellany is within arms reach of her fundraising target having raised $935 so far.
"A part from my hair, I've also made a heap of pom poms this year, so far about 60 of the big ones and then making a start on the smaller ones," she said.
"We give those out for a gold coin donation on the night, and then at our stall we also offer nail painting to raise money."
Relay For Life will begin at 9:30am this Saturday at Connelly Oval, finishing 24 hours later.
