Ten South Wagga players have been named in a strong Sloggers squad to take part in this year's Regional Bash.
The Sloggers will open their campaign against competition heavyweight ACT Aces in Canberra on Sunday week.
They will travel back to the nation's captain again the following Sunday for games against Border Bullets and Murrumbidgee Rangers, with the top team from the pool of four to advance to the Thunder conference final.
Wagga Sloggers manager Shaun Perry is happy with the strength of the squad.
"Probably the only bloke we haven't got is Jono Nicoll, who said his rep days are over," Perry said.
"We're pretty happy with this year. Dave Bolton has made himself available and Josh Thompson, who missed last year, is back in the squad as well.
"Bowling wise, Nick Grant has a crook hip and there is a question mark over Alex Smeeth but I'm not a great believer in pace winning you a lot of Twenty20s.
"There are a few blokes that can't play both weekends but we've got plenty of options there. It should be good."
As for 10 players being selected from South Wagga, Perry was happy to go with such a large representation.
"As you would be, they're the best side in the comp," he said.
"You could just about send the South Wagga team across there."
Experienced South Wagga batsman Joel Robinson will again captain the Wagga team.
Robinson is happy with the balance and experience in the squad but concedes it will be a tough task against the likes of ACT.
"Obviously we're going to come up against ACT, who are going to be fairly strong," Robinson said.
"They've obviously been playing this format longer than us and are definitely better equipped than we are so we're going to need to play our best, and have a bit of luck as well."
As part of the competition rules, four under 21 players must be selected in each squad and two must play in each game.
Wagga did hope to welcome back the likes of former players Ethan Bartlett and Josh Staines for the representative competition but both are set to line up for ACT Aces.
