With star top order duo Josh Thompson and Tom Burge missing, Cawley made an unbeaten 41 off 38 balls in the Cats' eight wicket loss to defending premiers South Wagga on Saturday.
He backed up with 13 in Sunday's five wicket victory over Wagga RSL, which was set up by the bowlers after they restricted the Bulldogs to just 7-123 batting first.
Sixteen-year-old medium pacer Eddie Grigg took 2-15 off two overs on first grade debut for the Cats.
Opening batsman Jon Nicoll (59 not out off 54) and brother Rob (33 not out off 22) finished the job after three wickets from the Bulldogs' Tim Cameron (3-10) reduced them to 4-47 early.
On Saturday Wagga City was 0-70 off eight overs, with Jon Nicoll compiling another unbeaten half century (52 off 56), before South Wagga put the clamps on to restrict them to 1-140.
Alex Smeeth (57 off 54) and Blake Harper (45 off 37) ensured South Wagga made light work of the run chase, aided by 22 extras.
"You're not going to beat any side with that many extras, let alone South Wagga," Rob Nicoll said.
"We got an opportunity on Sunday to learn from our mistakes, and we did.
"Eddie Grigg took two wickets which is a great sign of our junior development."
Nicoll hopes Cawley continues to put pressure on his more experienced teammates going forward.
"You take those two (Thompson and Burge) out of the top three (it hurts). But the pleasing thing for me was Nick Cawley, who came in on Saturday and was 41 not out against the best attack in the competition," Nicoll said.
"We've got two experienced bats to come back and I want to keep him in. He's putting pressure on other guys now to perform, otherwise he's holding his spot."
Wagga RSL also split their weekend fixtures after strong bowling displays from Ben Willis (4-8) and Ethan Perry (4-22) restricted St Michaels to 9-100 on Saturday.
The Bulldogs reached the target with six wickets and almost seven overs to spare.
