Licensing Police stated on Friday that they had received footage over the past few months of intoxicated people committing offences between Morgan and Edward streets, ranging from the early evening to the early morning hours.
"Police have received CCTV footage of numerous persons, both male and female, clearly affected by liquor and/or other substances, utilising both sides of Peter Street as public urinals and making no attempt to conceal this behaviour from pedestrians, passing traffic or residents," a police statement said.
"This behaviour is unacceptable. Police are attempting to identify these persons. Any person identified can expect a visit from police and a hefty on-the-spot fine."
Public urination can attract a $500 fine under laws against offensive conduct or a $660 fine or imprisonment for three months if the matter is taken to court.
