The fate of the controversial $9 million piggery expansion south of Matong was scheduled to be debated at Wagga City Council's meeting on Tuesday night.
However, general manager Peter Thompson pulled the plug and decided to defer the development until a later date.
"We have deferred it; it has been pulled by the general manager to give councillors more time to get additional information about it," said mayor Greg Conkey.
"Councillors had a number of questions ... being deferred will give us a chance to ask more questions as it's a huge project and we need to be better briefed on it."
Cr Conkey said council will hold a workshop to inform councillors and address the issues surrounding the project.
"There are a number of issues, with condition of roads and transport as well as a number of objections," he said.
"Until we have a workshop, and maybe the NSW Environment Protection Authority can come along to chat about the issues, councillors will be better briefed ... hopefully we can come back in a few weeks time."
The Daily Advertiser contacted the applicant PIC Australia CEO Paul O'Leary, but he declined to comment.
