The couple "fell in love" with Grong Grong and decided to purchase and run the Grong Grong Motor Inn.
Fast forward to October 2019, the Kooper's have decided to sell the establishment to enjoy the fruits of their labour.
"I sold my IT company and I said let's buy a motel with the funds," Mr Kooper said.
"We were looking on the coast, but then decided regionally and we stumbled on this motel.
"We stepped out of the car and didn't speak one word; it just clicked and we bought it in 2.5 hours, without even seeing the books."
The Kooper's are planning to take a break and travel around Europe for about two years.
"Now Sandra wants to go back to Europe, only for a break, so it's for sale," Mr Kooper said.
"We want to come back to Grong Grong, there's something about this place.
"The koala, the kangaroo sure, but the space is mind boggling."
The Kooper's were always drawn to Australia through their family connections.
"I was in IT business my whole life and then before that, I was a marine in the Royal Dutch Navy, but Sandra was born in Australia," Mr Kooper said.
The 10-room motel is listed for $550,000 and is situated about 500 metres from the Newell Highway, approximately 23 kilometres east of Narrandera.
Mr Kooper said their passion for hospitality and doing what they love is what has kept them in the business for so long.
"We've been running it more for the lifestyle ... not really something we wanted to make a fortune with," he said.
"We've done it up, it's modern and convenient; you have to like what you're doing and I think that's what is lacking in hospitality these days."
