Wagga police confirmed that officers attended the scene after being called around 1.15pm and are dealing with the incident.
It is believed a request from one man to another for a cigarette preceded the public display of aggression.
"There was a brawl outside the Sturt Mall, police were on scene within minutes and spoke to all the people involved," Inspector Adrian Telfer said.
"One male was treated by NSW Ambulance for non-life threatening injuries and we're investigating."
