After helping Kildare Catholic College break a run of three straight Tracey Gunson Shield finals losses to Mater Dei Catholic College this year, Phoebe and Claire can now add a Riverina League A-grade premiership to their resume.

Phoebe, 15, and Claire 17, experienced the unusual situation of battling each other for court time for Mangoplah-Cookardinia United-Eastlakes this year.

The Goannas claimed their first premiership since 2015 by defeating Collingullie-Glenfield Park in Saturday's 60-51 grand final win at Narrandera.

The two Wallaces both play centre and rotated in and out of the match to save their legs, allowing Mikaela Cole to shift out to wing attack in the back end of the season.

"We're just happy because we learn from each other," Claire said.

"It's easy because we can be honest and be blunt about what we can do better sharing the position.

"We were very nervous (before the grand final), but training with the older girls made us less nervous."

Phoebe added: "We're happy to yell at each other as yell, it's a bit easier to do that than with everyone else.

"Everyone just worked together (in the grand final), it was a team effort."

Goannas coach Marie Campbell said centre-sharing duties was a key cog in their premiership charge.

"That change worked really well for us today getting fresh legs in the centre," Campbell said.

"I think all our changes worked to mix things up and crack their attack, because they are quite strong."
