Hanwood has declared they're "not going anywhere" after two superb Joey Schirripa goals proved the difference in a 2-1 Pascoe Cup extra time grand final win over Lake Albert. Looking to defend last year's premiership, the Sharks took the lead after 19 minutes when Kane Baumer hammered home a penalty after Hanwood's Jordan Beltrame was penalised for a hand ball. But the key turning point of the match came ten minutes before halftime when Baumer, lining up his second penalty after teammate Ben Matthews was fouled in the box, sprayed his attempt well over the crossbar. "You want to play against the best. I'd rather lose to Hanwood than not have them in the comp." But Lake Albert reserve grade skipper Aaron Thomas didn't have to worry - his side worked hard before nailing a 2-0 win over the Griffith side. Leonard Cup: Tara Ceccato, Hanwood
Leonard Cup player of the year Tara Ceccato praised Hanwood's composure after they reversed a 3-1 deficit to prevail over Tolland 6-3 in an extra time grand final thriller on Sunday. Ceccato, who scored the opening goal of the grand final and won the Leonard Cup's golden boot award, said their move to the Wagga competition was the challenge they needed. Full story here
