Police conducted an awareness operation in Sturt Mall on Thursday in a bid to combat thefts from cars.
Acting Inspector Maggie Deall said officers were handing out flyers to remind residents to lock their vehicles and ensure they take any valuables out.
"We have experienced a spike in steal from motor vehicle offences, so in conjunction with Wagga City Council we are pushing the Park Smart message," she said.
"If people have CCTV and they notice people lurking around cars in their streets, please forward us the CCTV or give us a ring, we are happy to hear it about it.
"We are encouraging people to take as many of those preventive measures as they can."
Earlier in the week, Inspector Deall said more than 20 cars were broken into at the weekend in Glenfield Park, Mount Austin, Tolland and Ashmont.
"We are putting in a lot of effort behind the scenes to deal with this," she said.
"We are getting assistance from the Southern Region in terms of resources, but we are asking people to be aware.
"We are following several good investigative avenues which I can't make much comment on at the moment."
