Pearce was part of their 2007 and 2010 successes, but his larger role in ending a nine-year drought.
"It's a lot different just coaching with Dean (Bristow) and how much effort we've put in this year," Pearce said.
"The other times I won all I was doing was turning up to training but this time we're planning training.
"When we were winning the premiership we came through a golden era and now we're coming from the back end of the draw."
Pearce was thrilled with how well the team competed with Southcity for the entire year.
Especially through the forwards.
"The forward pack was unreal for us and have been all year," Pearce said.
He also got to experience the premiership with younger brother Jed who returned home this season.
