The Cherrypickers were both devastating and delightful when they put it together, and on the path to victory by half-time with four tries to none before the break.
Half-back and captain Jacob Lucas kicked off his man-of-the-match performance with a darting run five minutes in to put Gundagai on the back foot, and then provided the kick for centre Tom Jenkins' first try.
In the 10th minute, Lucas was again the architect with a nicely-placed high kick which was taken in spectacular fashion by flying fullback Nick Hall for a 12-0 lead.
Tigers stemmed the scoring for 10 minutes but mistakes hurt and any momentum they had went south when Hall fielded a kick 10 metres out from their tryline, beat a couple of defenders and outran the chasers over 90 metres to score his second.
That was eye-catching and Jenkins' second try classy when he stepped through the defence from 15 metres out to have Gundagai in a world of hurt, down 24-0 at half-time.
The Tigers started with intent in the second half and were rewarded with a converted try in the opening minute to half-back James Wilson and twice in the next six minutes they crossed only to be held up.
When Young lock Tom Turner charged 30 metres virtually untouched from the base of a scrum, their hopes and hearts were dashed and Steve Anderson - with the help of Lucas' sixth straight conversion - made it 36-6 with 10 minutes still to play.
It was a satisfying sight for coach Garry Lucas, who was rapt in the performance.
"I couldn't fault it, only two mistakes in the first half and about three in the second half so you can't get a better game of footy than that," Lucas said.
"Through the season, we've probably never lost as many games leading into the finals but as soon as finals kicked in, they turned a new leaf."
It was two in a row for the Cherrypickers' Weissel Cup side, just as it was for their Sullivan Cup side which went back to back.
It was a particularly satisfying win for Lucas, not only as coach, but father of the Jacob, man of the match, and as club president.
He said it couldn't have been a better couple of seasons from their under-age teams, nor a better start to grand final day.
"It's a good day so far, a real good start. It's just showing what we're doing in the juniors is starting to flow through to seniors and it looks good for the future," Lucas said.
Gundagai's Jake Elphick scored from an intercept with five minutes to play and Gundagai took heart from finishing level in the second half.
