Dr Kofman is a Russian-born Israeli-Australian author of five books, an editor of two anthologies, and a writing teacher and mentor, based in Melbourne.

Kofman's first three books, the novels Scars and I will love Christina, and a short story collection Single Woman, 32 were published in Israel, in Hebrew. Since 2003, she has written exclusively in English.

Earlier this year, Kofman published Imperfect, a combination of memoir and cultural critique, casting a questioning eye on the myths surrounding our conception of physical perfection, and what it's like to live in a body that deviates from the norm.

Most recently, Kofman has curated Split, an anthology of personal essays in which 18 Australian writers reveal powerful, occasionally funny and often heartbreaking stories of significant endings and their aftermath.

Kofman's numerous short stories, short creative non-fiction and poetry have been published widely in Australia, Scotland, UK, Israel, USA and Canada.

She has also performed as a feature poet in various poetry events in Melbourne, judged several writing competitions, and participated in many literary events and festivals as a panellist, panel moderator, feature speaker and lecturer.

Kofman will appear in conversation with library staff member Chrissie Bolton, discussing her books and writing experiences.
