There is one thing standing in their way - a Gundagai outfit they are yet to beat this season.

The two teams had a draw early in the year before the Tigers won their next two clashes, including a 28-12 victory in the major semi-final a fortnight ago.

However co-coach Greg Smith is confident they can turn the tides in the biggest game of the year at Equex Centre on Sunday.

"On our day we are certainly capable of beating any side," Smith said.

"I just hope that day is going to be Sunday."

The minor premiers certainly proved that throughout the season, suffering just two losses plus the draw heading into finals.

Smith doesn't believe there is a lot between the two sides.

Young led for most of their first round clash before Gundagai scored a try in the last minute to level things and only six points separated them in their second meeting.

The Tigers ran out big winners in the semi-final, but Smith thought the Pickers struggled to respond with a local home crowd cheering on their rivals.

He believes they will be better for the experience this time around.

"They played good semi-final football and I think we were a bit overawed by the day," Smith said.

"We will be better for that run come this weekend.

"Across all grades Gundagai at Gundagai has always been a tough gig and it is a pretty daunting task.

"You've got the crowd down there and I think it played into it as well."

The Cherrypickers responded to take a 30-4 win over Southcity to set up another clash with the Tigers.'

Smith was pleased with the response, especially through the forwards.

He believes that will be one of the keys towards taking their first reserve grade crown since 2004.

He also thought moving Jake Veney to fullback, with Jacob Hardy reverting to the centres, helped the team's balance against the Bulls.

It's the way they will line up this week.

He's also looking for their forward pack to stand up against a very experienced Tigers outfit.
