A two-seat, single-propeller private aircraft was in danger of crash-landing after it was found to have a problem with its landing wheels, a spokesperson for the airport said.

The incident occurred just before 6pm, with ambulance, police, fire and volunteer rescue crews called to attend.

"Ambulance crews were called as standby," said a spokesperson for NSW Ambulance.

"There were concerns the plane would not land safely, but it turned out to be fine."

No injuries were sustained by any party during the landing of the light aircraft, and none of the on board passengers required medical attention at the scene.

Leon Burger, airport facility manager, praised the city's emergency respondents for quick action following the enactment of the airport's emergency plan.

"They responded well and quickly," he said.

"Thankfully an incident was avoided and it was able to land without problem."
