The Dragons overcame some tough resistance from Kangaroos to take a 16-10 win at Harris Park on Sunday.

Temora are the only team to get the better of the premiers this season, beating them twice in the regular season, before suffering a 18-6 loss in the major semi-final.

However with their season on the line coach Jackelyn Hughes was pleased with how the side responded.

"We had to redeem ourselves and prove we can play as well as we have been all year," Hughes said.

"It is nice to get the chance to do it again."

Emily Perrot, who claimed her third leaguetag best and fairest honour in four seasons on Friday, led the way.

She crossed twice in the win and was dangerous whenever she had the ball.

She opened the scoring after 12 minutes but Kangaroos, who had already won two knockout finals, responded through Mikayla Large with two minutes left in the half.

With the scores locked at 6-all, Paige Amarant put the Dragons back in front with 15 to play before Perrot crossed five minutes later.

Chelsea Pratt scored for Kangaroos on the last play of the game but it wasn't enough for their finals fairytale run to continue.

Brothers have won seven of the 11 leaguetag grand final played, while the Dragons are through to their first grand final since 2014.

Hughes believes the finals win puts them in good stead.

"You've got to be confident otherwise why else do you play?," she said.
