The Goannas' season came to an end in the second week of finals as they were sent packing courtesy of a 47-point loss to Wagga Tigers.

Rowe, who was a late withdrawal due to injury, said his team was 'found wanting' when it mattered.

"It is a disappointing way to finish the season. Every team that gets bundled out in the finals would obviously be disappointed and we're no exception to that," Rowe said.

"Despite the fact we finished fifth we really loved the way that the second half of our season had gone and we did have high hopes coming into the finals.

"We were terrific last week and we felt that if we brought more of that this week then we might cause the upset and then who knows what happens after that but I just think Tigers executed in the big moments today and we were found wanting in those really important moments during the game. Ultimately I think that was the difference and without question, because of that, they deserve their win."

Rowe said in some degree, MCUE's season was a success, despite the early exit from finals.

"It's an interesting one. We just very briefly touched on it then, we feel as though we've made such good strides and made positive steps forward on and off the field that you must, in some sort of degree, count the season as a success," he said.

"But in saying that, we set ourselves a couple of goals that we didn't achieve and we just don't want to get to the end of the season and all of a sudden we justifying that we didn't achieve our goals. We didn't achieve them, we've got to learn as much as we possibly can out of today and we've got to be better for it and we've got to be here in the same position next year and be better equipped to get a better result.

"I've enjoyed it immensely, I've got a lot of respect and love for the group, and we've had a terrific time plying our trade together. Right now, we didn't get what we wanted out of today. We don't need to be beating ourselves up over it but we need to acknowledge and learn from it and not start, at this early stage, justifying and making excuses as to why we didn't get where we wanted to go."

Rowe, in his first season as coach of MCUE, is yet to re-sign for a second season.

The 35-year-old was a late withdrawal from Sunday's final due to a back injury. He was unable to get through the warm up and pulled out.

Rowe hopes to re-commit to the club shortly.

"I'm highly likely to stay," he said.

"The only reason I didn't sign for two years at the start was making sure the personal side of things was in check. It's looking as if they will be and I hope to sit down with the club soon and come to an agreement."
