The Brumbies Provincial team heads to Canberra this weekend and will face the ACT Griffins and Brumbies under 19s for the Capital Cup.

With more success at the June tournament, Southern Inland players dominate the 23-strong team with 15 of the 23 players selected are from the zone.

Coach Nick McCarthy believes it is a good opportunity to play a higher level of rugby.

"I look at these sort of weekends as a good opportunity for guys from the bush to play a level of rugby that is not that easy for them to find," McCarthy said.

"Playing against the best of the best from the Canberra competition and the best under 19s in the Canberra zone gives our guys a chance to test themselves and also be sighted for a potential move to Canberra as well."

It is a change from the usual representative program, which has traditionally been played in the middle of the season.

Despite it's post-season placement, McCarthy is still pleased with the team that will run out for the three-way event.

"I don't think it has really changed too much from the players' point of view," McCarthy said.

"We've lost a few from the original squad .... but all in all we've still got a pretty good team to take over."

Injury and unavailability have forced some changes.

Callum Ramm comes into the side after Waratahs' premiership success at fullback.

Ag College Luke Turner comes into the back row, and joins his brother Riley in the side.

Chris Latu, Kula Kaloudonu and Liam Mowbray have also received call ups to the bench while former Waratahs halfback Tom Hallam comes in despite playing for Canberra Royals this season.

However Bill Castle Medal winner Liam Krautz is out with a shoulder problem as is Waratahs halback Sam Hobbs, who took a knee injury into the decider.

Albury's Tom Boyle has been named as a captain.

The Brumbies Provincial first tackles ACT Griffins at Gunghalin Enclosed Oval at 2.15pm with their game against the under 19s to follow at 3.30pm.

Both games will be played with two 25 minute halves.
