In search of their first win over their crosstown rivals since 2015, and their first premiership since 2012, Aggies lead 13-0 minutes before half-time before conceding the next 29 points to see their premiership aspirations end at Conolly Rugby Complex on Saturday.
Despite falling short against Waratahs for a second straight year, coach Will Mitchell was far from disappointed with their performance in the 29-18 loss.
However he did rue a number of opportunities they failed to convert.
"We didn't make the most of the ball that we had and they did," Mitchell said.
"That's probably it.
"We did our best and never gave up."
Ag College were thumped 55-12 by Waratahs in the major semi-final.
However they picked themselves out to beat Albury to make it through to the grand final before putting in a completely different performance in the biggest game of the year.
Mitchell was hoping for more considering how well the side started.
"It has been a good turnaround but it wasn't good enough," he said.
"We had no mental demons about it whatsover and it's just a shame we couldn't close it out."
After struggling to keep up with Waratahs in last year's grand final, where they went down 52-14, setting up another clash in the decider has been the main focus for Ag College.
However their winless streak extended as once again Waratahs had the answers.
Mitchell was still pleased with the effort the young side put in.
"We've been really looking forward to this all year really," he said.
"They never stopped trying, no one shirked their responsibilities but Waratahs are a good side and credit to them."
Waratahs coach Michael Davis was very impressed with what Ag College through at them.
Especially with how hard the minor premiers had to work to recover from the first half onslaught.
"We thought that being a younger side they wouldn't handle the pressure as much but it was just a fantastic game," Davis said.
"It's a shame after something like that that you have to have a winner and a loser but I'm very happy to take the win though."
Both sides are expected to be without a number a players for next season after Aggies had a very similar line up to last year's grand final loss.
