The lock bowed out with consecutive Rivcoll Old Boys Medals as player of the grand final after helping Waratahs defend their Southern Inland Rugby Union first grade premiership on Saturday.
It was the ideal swansong game for Hosegood, who won't be at Waratahs next season due to work commitments in Adelaide.
The Waratahs became the first first grade team to secure back-to-back titles since they achieved the feat in 2010-11, and Hosegood believes they can go on with the job.
"I'd love to see it happen, even though I'm not going to be here," he said.
"I've loved my years with Southern Inland Rugby Union, I think the comp's thriving and it's a real honour to take out this prize again and win the game."
Hosegood said patience and discipline was key to turning around a 13-0 deficit to win 29-18.
"We knew it was all about possession and if we can start holding the ball and put four or five phases together, we're very dangerous," he said.
"We just had to pull our heads in and respect the ball and it came off the back of that.
"We knew it would be more of a grind today."
Hosegood played most of his football with the Waratahs in the back row, but his shift to the second row this year was a success.
"We had a really strong back row so I moved to second row where I've played a lot in the past," he said.
"You're a bit more gassed after the scrums."
