A B-double and a semi were involved in the crash on the Hume Highway near Wagga Hill, about five kilometres north of Tarcutta, a spokesperson for NSW Rural Fire Service confirmed.
Emergency services were called out soon after 11.15pm, with three road crews and a rescue helicopter dispatched by NSW Ambulance.
One of the drivers, a 60-year-old man, was reportedly trapped inside the wreck of his truck.
"The driver of one of the trucks ... was conscious and breathing, but had a significant laceration to his head," a NSW Ambulance spokesperson said.
"He was airlifted to Canberra Hospital in a stable condition."
The second driver, a 27-year-old man, was assessed at the scene by paramedics and found not to have any major injuries. He declined transport to hospital, NSW Ambulance confirmed.
Neither truck was loaded with hazardous materials and fire crews remained on scene to clear a diesel spill from the crash.
