After being rotated between Albury and Wagga for the past few seasons, Murrumbidgee Turf Club has been overlooked with Racing NSW opting to hold the event for a second consecutive year on the border.
The $150,000 SDRA qualifier will be held at Albury on Saturday, February 22.
Racing NSW general manager - industry and analytical - Scott Kennedy said it will continue to be rotated between the two venues going forward.
"One thing we're looking to do is give a venue some continuity while rotating it," Kennedy said.
"The meeting at Albury went quite well last year, especially betting turnover. It was one of the successes of the championships this year, it worked very well so it will go back to Albury again next year but we'll continue to go between the two venues in the future."
Wagga held the opening two SDRA heats of the Country Championships in 2015 and 2016. Albury held it for the first time in 2017 and it has rotated between the two clubs since.
MTC chief executive Steve Keene said the club is disappointed not to be hosting the event again in 2020.
"Being the premier track in the SDRA, we're always putting our hand up for these major races," Keene said.
"We're looking forward to having it for the following two years. It was a great success last year at Albury and we look forward to it being the same next year.
"It's always disappointing not to be able to hold the major meetings in the area but we understand Racing NSW's take on it."
MTC further enhanced its reputation as the premier club in the SDRA when it was again named as a finalist for the Country TAB Club of the Year at the NSW Country and Provincial Racing Awards, to be held in October.
Next year the Wagga Gold Cup and Town Plate will be worth $200,000, the same as the Albury Gold Cup.
