Police were patrolling Mary Gilmore Way when they detected a car travelling at 152km/h in a 100km/h zone last Friday.
Officers stopped the vehicle, which had a male driver and a passenger on board.
The driver was issued an infringement notice exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h.
The offence carries a fine of $2482, as well as a six-month licence suspension.
The vehicle's registration has also been cancelled for three months.
''Mary Gilmore Way has seen a number of very serious and fatal crashes over the years, with many being speed related," said region road safety officer Glenn Sheehan.
"Yet some drivers think it's still OK to travel at these crazy speeds and endanger themselves, their passengers and any other innocent road users they happen to be sharing the road with."
