After years of lobbying, Tumut has finally been given the green light to hold a Sky Two meeting on Saturday, January 4.
Tumut trainer Kerry Weir, a former president of the club, said it was a great coup for the town.
"It's a good result. We've been trying for years," Weir said.
"We have made a lot of improvements to our track to get it to standard so it's a good reward for everyone."
Tumut will move its January 16 race meeting to January 4 to secure the TAB timeslot.
There will be $12,000 in prizemoney on offer for each of the six races.
The new TAB meeting will follow on from Tumut's already popular Boxing Day meeting.
