Gentleman Max continued his consistent preparation with a third placing in the DLG Aluminium Open Handicap (1500m).
The placing was enough for Sutherland to extend his lead in the SDRA Winter Series to 24 points and all but secure him the prizemoney for another year with just one race remaining.
Sutherland moved to 48 points with Albury trainer Ron Stubbs (24) his nearest rival with just the Ian Reid Sprint (1200m) at Wagga on August 29 remaining.
Donna Scott moved into third place in the series following the win of Carano ($3.60) in the Open Handicap (1500m) at Albury.
Carano has only been with Scott for three starts but enjoyed her second win for the stable with an all-the-way effort at Albury.
She will head to the breeding barn in the next couple of months but Scott is happy to have her in her stable until then.
"She's been a pleasure," Scott said.
"Especially now that she's out to the mile, I hope there's a couple more wins left in her."
It was the first leg in a winning double for Scott, who was also successful with Hail The Hero ($3.00) in the Skin Logics Benchmark 58 Handicap (1600m).
It was a day for doubles with jockeys Lachlan King and Brodie Loy both enjoying success.
King was successful on Carano and Lemon Splice ($3.30), while Loy won on Spinher ($2.00) and Hail The Hero.
