The service, which would allow same-day return to Tumut from Wagga, is expected to also go via Grahamstown, Tarcutta and Ladysmith.
Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Paul Toole said 13 new public transport routes would be trialed in a plan to link communities to nearby towns, cities or existing public transport services.
Mr Toole said community consultations would be held until mid-October to see exactly what sort of service the community wants.
"We want to hear from locals as to which timetable they prefer for the trial services along with feedback on what transport options best suit their needs," he said.
