The Thunder host a red-hot Brothers outfit in the elimination final at Greenfield Park on Saturday and need to respond after a 40-16 loss to Kangaroos.

Regardless of any results across the final round, Albury couldn't be moved from fourth heading into the clash at Equex Centre on Saturday.

However captain-coach Adrian Purtell was far from pleased with their attitude one week out from finals.

"I was still really disappointed with the result," Purtell said.

"I thought Kangaroos played really well, they out-enthused us early on and we probably just didn't turn up with the right attitude."

Kangaroos raced out to a 28-0 lead at half-time and despite the Thunder getting back within 12 points they couldn't sustain their comeback.

Purtell thought errors proved costly.

It's one thing he's looking to correct ahead of their first finals game in three years.

"(The loss) is far from ideal but at the end of the day it is what it is and we have a fresh competition starting this week," Purtell said.

"Brothers have been going great but I'm really confident that if we play for the full 80 minutes then we will be really competitive as well.

"It's elimination now from every week but we've given ourselves the opportunity to play in the games after a fairly successful season and have earned the right to be in there.

"It is up to us to do the job now in the finals."

Both sides have enjoyed comfortable wins at their respective home grounds this season.

The Thunder also picked up an injury concern in the victory with centre Damien Scott coming from the field.
