The Wagga Blaze were still in celebration mode after bringing home the third Waratah League division one championship banner in four years by beating Coffs Harbour in Sunday's grand final at Terrigal.
The players adopted an intergalactic theme for their Mad Monday celebrations, and admitted they took the scenic route back on Sunday to toast their 69-64 success.
"We went to Narrandera and had a few beers at a few establishments on the way home," team stalwart Summa Stephens said.
"It (winning championships) doesn't get old. It's always amazing and this group is a team environment, and that includes the coaches.
"Everyone has the same level of commitment, it's always nice to win it but especially with a group all on the same page."
The Blaze overcame an injury to import point guard Shakera Barnes, suffered during Saturday's semi final over Tamworth, which hampered her in the decider.
"When she was injured the team got around her and supported her. It shows we're bigger than one or two people, we're deep enough to play through tricky situations," Stephens said.
The beeps from passing motorists when they spotted the banner draped over the balcony were met with raucous cheers by the players as they lapped up their achievement.
