Tigers produced some of the best football of the year to run the Hoppers off their feet, reclaiming top spot with a 15.16 (106) to 11.4 (70) victory at Robertson Oval.

It was the perfect response from last week's shock loss to Turvey Park and puts them in the box seat for the minor premiership with just one round remaining.

Tigers exploded out of the blocks with the opening five goals of the game and never looked back.

They led by 29 points at quarter-time, 41 at the main break and 44 at the final change before Coolamon kicked the first four goals of the last term.

Tigers steadied with the next three to give them a second decisive win over the Hoppers this year.

Jesse Manton starred with six goals in one of his best performances of the season but the major concern for Tigers was the loss of Brendy Myers to an ankle injury.

Wagga Tigers coach Troy Maiden was delighted with the response he got from his team.

"I spoke to the boys a fair bit during the week about what we needed to improve on and whilst we wanted to push last week's game into the background a little bit, we certainly knew there were areas we had to improve on from last week and one of those was showing some real early intent and I thought our first quarter today we played some of our better footy for the year," Maiden said.

"We were up and about, we moved the footy well and we were quick on the outside, so that was good."

Tigers only need to beat Griffith next week to claim the minor premiership and move straight through to the second week of finals but Maiden was not getting ahead of himself.

"Obviously we've still got to play Griffith next week and again that's still probably not our focus," he said.

"Our focus is to go out and improve. As I've said all year, we want to improve every time we play, we want to improve every time we train. For us it was about responding and improving and I thought we did that today."

While Myers limped into half-time on crutches, Maiden revealed the injury was not as bad as how it appeared.

"He rolled his ankle. It did swell up a bit straight away, I think it's gone down a bit now. We'll see how it goes during the week but I imagine he'll be available next week," he said.

Tigers had winners all over the ground. Manton was exceptional, particularly early, while Tom Keogh, Nick Ryan, Will Keogh and Lahn Shepherd all enjoyed big games.

The scary part for the opposition was who is still to come back in with Ben Kelly, Sam Ryan, Shaun Driscoll, Josh Gaynor and Jacob Osbeiston all likely to return next week.

Jeremiah Maslin led the way for Coolamon with a five-goal haul, while Joe Redfern kicked four last-quarter goals.
