Celebrating National Science Week, the library hosted a range of child-friendly experiments, from bicycle powered blenders to slime bombs and magnetised lava lamps.

Library manager Claire Campbell said the event was just a snippet of what's to come.

"Instead of story time, kids are getting to do science experiments, things like magic tricks where they fill up a glass of water and tip it upside down without spilling any," she said.

"Saturday is the big finale with virtual reality and robots, making their own slime and a couple of really big shows happening."

The festival is in its 6^th year, getting children familiar with the future of technology.

"Science week really gets kids thinking about what they might want to do after school and what they're interested in," Ms Campbell said.

"Science is so much fun, and we'll have some great future scientists here growing up in Wagga."

Sarah Gregor was one mum who brought her children to the event.

"Our kids love science, I was telling them we're having story time but instead of reading we're learning about different science concepts," she said.

"I'm a preschool teacher so we do a lot of science experiments at home and they do it at daycare, so they really love it."

The final 'Future World' event to wrap up the Riverina Science Festival will fill the library, art gallery, library foyer and civic precinct tomorrow from 10am to 4pm.
