Debbie Went was enjoying a well-deserved day off when an employee called to say a window at Crackerjack Cafe and Takeaway had been smashed and the cash register was gone.
On Sunday morning at 3.40am, the shop was broken into.
"They broke a window to get in," said owner Debbie Went. "They took the cash and some chocolates."
Ms Went said for the past six years she has worked, on average, 80 hours a week to get the business going.
"I was shocked and annoyed," she said.
"I have never had an issue before, all the kids around here are great.
"Now I have to get more security, which will cost me more money."
Ms Went said the break-in would make it hard to trust people, but she is grateful for the community that has rallied around her.
"It's like a family here, I know all my customers," she said.

The shop had security cameras that showed a brick flying through the window, shortly followed by two people who climbed in to steal the cash register.
"I would like them to come see me," Ms Went said.
"Have the guts to come see instead of sneaking around. It's pretty gutless.
"We work really hard ... and for someone to come and do that, it's really disheartening to be honest."
