A man has died after crashing his car into a tree off the Hume Highway, north of Holbrook.

Emergency services were called to the highway at Little Billabong about 4pm on Monday.
The 59-year-old man had been driving south and appeared to cross onto the wrong side of the road before hitting a tree.
Four passengers, aged 49, two aged 58, and a child aged eight were unhurt.

Witnesses stopped to assist but the driver was unresponsive.
Attempts to revive the man were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident led to the southbound lanes of the highway being closed for a number of hours.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
