Riverina Police District Inspector Peter McLay said officers were waiting at the intersection of Edward and Best Street when they saw a Mack Tipper driving suspiciously about 4am on Sunday.
"Due to the way it was being driven, it was being driven very slowly and the driver appeared to be having trouble with the gears, police pulled the vehicle over," he said.
"It turns out the truck was stolen from Darlington Point earlier in the night."
Inspector McLay said the "most concerning thing" was the age of the truck's occupants.

"Both boys were from Darlington Point. They were arrested and taken to Wagga Police Station where they had to be held for a number of hours until such time as police could locate a support person for those boys," he said.
Inspector McLay said they were released without charges, pending further investigations.
"They are only young boys, and we weren't able to interview them or speak to them until such time as we can get a parent as well," he said.
"I am aware the tipper was proceeds of a break and enter earlier in the night at Darlington Point."
Inspector McLay said it was a concerning event given their tender age.
"It beggars belief how they were able to drive the vehicle," he said.
"In fact, they did drive the vehicle all the way from Darlington Point to Wagga without having an accident, colliding with someone else, killing themselves or someone else on the road ... and you've just got to wonder where their parents were."
