Co-coach Adam Pearce didn't take part in the 30-10 win over Kangaroos at Twickenham on Sunday while partner Dean Bristow came off with a head knock late in the game.
The victory, combined with Gundagai's 34-28 loss to Southcity, moved the Blues to first place on the ladder with one round to play.
It's the highest they've been on the ladder in almost a decade.
However Pearce knows the side needs to improve if they are to maintain it coming up against Gundagai.
"(First) is really good but it all comes down to next week as we could drop to third with one loss," Pearce said.
"It is good to be on top for the time being but we still have to win next week and they will be pretty fired up after a loss."
Tumut opened the scoring as Jordan Anderson opened the scoring after 10 minutes.
It triggered their attack as tries to Michael Clark, Bristow and Ben Roddy handed the home side a 20-0 lead at half-time.
Kangaroos responded as captain-coach Glenn Dumbrell got them on the board in the opening minutes of the second stanza.
The Blues pack struggled for the same potency in the second half but the home side was still next to score as Brayden Draber was able to swoop upon a clever kick.
Zac Masters continued his strong second half of the season as he crossed with leass than 10 minutes lefter.
Nick Trevaskis scored a consolation for Kangaroos before Draber elected to take a penalty goal to end the contest.
Despite a big win, Pearce wants their attitude to improve coming into finals.
"We started pretty slow," he said.
"The first ten minutes we were slow and then we got going but in the second half we just dropped away.
"We definitely need to improve.
"We'll work on a few things at training this week and our attitude is probably our biggest let down at the moment.
"Late in the Young game our attitude let down and we let them score two late tries and then our attitude to start the game was us expecting to score every time we have the ball down there but it is not that easy. We have to build pressure."
Thomas Jeffery also didn't take his place after cutting his hand at work on Friday but Jed Pearce returned off the bench while Todd Broad and Austin McDougall picked up knocks but played out the game.
