Menser and McKenzie both scored doubles against the eighth-placed Wolves in freezing conditions at Rawlings Park, the thrashing following a 5-0 shutout of seventh-placed Tumut last week.

The Hawks finish the regular season against bottom two teams South Wagga and Cootamundra, the culmination of a soft month after they were soundly beaten 4-0 by defending champions Lake Albert.

But Menser doesn't view their lack of hardened match practice as a drama, and will use it to freshen up players before finals begin.

"You can look at it either way really," Menser said.

"It's good because we do get to rest some players, and gives us a chance to get in better form. But by the same token, we don't have any of those high intensity matches that everyone else has.

"But it means we can potentially get through without any injuries or suspensions, which is a positive."

The Sharks loss was their first defeat since round three, but Menser is confident it was just a bad day at the office and not a reflection of their standing against the top teams.

"I don't think it's a concern," he said.

"Apart from the Lake Albert game we hadn't conceded a lot of goals, for us it's about scoring goals.

"Potentially these next couple of matches can help us kick into gear and find some scoring form.

"We seem to have no issue keeping teams to low scores, and putting in a few goals does wonders for confidence going into finals."
