Fresh from the bye, the Goannas kicked away in the second term and were never headed on their way to a hard-fought victory, 11.11 (77) to 6.10 (46) at Mangoplah Sportsground.
MCUE coach Jeremy Rowe was happy to get the four points and believes it was a performance that can be built on over the next fortnight leading into finals.
"Going into the game if you had of said we'd win by 31 points against Narrandera, away, I definitely would have thought that reflected something that I was really happy with," Rowe said.
"Narrandera certainly brought a lot of intensity and effort to the game and you've always got to take that into consideration but across the four quarters I wouldn't expect anyone to be gushing about our performance.
"It was a performance that reflected doing enough but there's also some points to work on."
MCUE midfielder Dom Bunyan thrived on the contested footy and was remarkably clean to be named best for the Goannas.
Tim Smith controlled the air across half-back to contribute strongly for MCUE, as did Ryan Price through the midfield.
The Goannas will take the trip to Griffith next Saturday followed by a final round hit-out against Collingullie-Glenfield Park before finals.
Narrandera was best served by Jordan Hedington, while Isaac Bunge was a constant presence in attack.
