Bulls captain-coach Kyle McCarthy is looking for his side to lift after a 20-14 win over Kangaroos.
With a grand final rematch against Gundagai on the horizon, McCarthy is desperate for the team to rediscover their best form.
"It was horrible but I'll take the win," McCarthy said.
"If we want to feature deep in the year we have a lot of work to do.
"That was tough to be apart of."
A high error count is just one McCarthy thing wants to fix ahead of the big clash at Harris Park on Sunday.
"There's a lot of errors, we are pushing passes we shouldn't and defensively we are a little bit passive," he said.
"We need to be on the ball more, need better line speed as we're waiting too much and giving too much room to other teams."
Southcity opened the scoring when Jake Dooley crossed from dummy half after 12 minutes but it didn't take long for Kangaroos to respond.
Saul Houma crashed over to level things up but it as was the Bulls who went into the break with a 10-4 advantage after Brody Tracey completed a slick back line movement.
Southcity extended their lead three minutes after the break when a pinpoint Josh Siegwalt kick found Tim Hurst.
However Kangaroos had some luck off a kick themselves six minutes later as James Morgan scored off a ricocheted effort to cut the margin back to two.
Dooley gave the Bulls some breathing space when he backed up a Harry Lucas break but Southcity made an error coming out of their own end off the restart and their crosstown rivals made them pay.
Spreading it wide, Dylan Arragon scored to make it a six-point game with 18 minutes to play
Kangaroos had three repeat sets on the Bulls line but couldn't make their way through the Bulls defence.
Coach Glenn Dumbrell lamented how his side failed to capitalise on some of Southcuity's errors.
"There was a fair bit of effort from us but we just didn't take the opportunities we were given," Dumbrell said.
The loss ended their slim hopes of making the finals however Dumbrell, who is undecided on his future, believes they are plenty of positives from the season.
"We've got a very young side and the more experience they get the better it is for them," he said.
Southcity are third, three points behind the Tigers and expect Hayden Jeans will return from a hamstring injury next week.
