Student voices will be heard throughout Wagga Wagga Marketplace this week as Education Week celebrations take place.
Education Week is a state-wide event celebrating the achievements of public schools and their students.
It highlights all the splendid programs and opportunities available through public education which help students to have and express a voice during their educational journey and as engaged citizens of the future.
Wagga celebrations begin at 1.30pm on Monday, August 5 with entertainment from Riverina Central Choir.
At 2pm Yanco Drum Corps from Yanco Agricultural High School will herald the official proceedings of this year's opening ceremony.
Each item in the ceremony represents arts opportunities that have enabled students to experience their artistic journeys locally or beyond at state level.
Four dancers and three vocalists will be acknowledged for their state selections.
Alannah Brett, Olivia Muir, Connor Polsen and Angelica Temponeras, from Wagga Wagga High School, have been selected for the NSW State Dance Ensemble which will feature in Schools Spectacular later this year.
Vocalist, Jazmin Castle of Turvey Park Public School was a featured artist in last year's Schools Spectacular and has been selected for the 2019 show.
Ned Prescott and Lachlan Stephens of Wagga Wagga High School will be special vocalists in Schools Spectacular, Ned as a backing vocalist and Lachlan in the Core Choir.
Lachlan was also selected for the featured vocal ensemble of Southern Stars in Wollongong.

Comprising eighty students from eleven schools, they'll conclude this year's ceremony.

This year's Chess Challenge takes place from 10am Thursday, with the finals at 2pm.
And local schools will welcome visitors to their open days showing firsthand, the diversity of programs running every day in public schools.
