Juju Roche was born-and-raised in the region before she followed her love of art to Sydney. But, she has since returned to her family farm in Mangoplah nearly two years ago where inspiration struck for her upcoming exhibition.
Mrs Roche is one of the six artists in this year's exhibition line-up. The artworks by Joel Markham, Michael Agzarian, Fiona Durman, Robyn Veneer-Sweeny and Louise Halsey will follow down the track.
For her latest series of work, Mrs Roche has worked back-and-forth at a shared studio space on Fitzmaurice Street and a discarded shearing shed on her nearby farm.
The idea behind her Unearth exhibition has been to see the effects of weather patterns on the artwork.
In other news:
"We put the artworks on top of a hill exposed to the elements overnight. The idea is to leave them vulnerable to the natural environment like the wind, sun and rain," Mrs Roche said.
"It's about letting the accidental things happen - leaves falling on the work or bugs crawling across the canvas."
Mrs Roche said she was excited to share the final work with friends, family and locals who have supported her since her return.
"Being fresh back in town, I haven't had many connections with local artists so this has been a great way to collaborate," she said.
The Wagga Art Gallery's Community Gallery exhibition program launches on Friday night.
